Business Development Manager
Sue is part of the Kirwan family that has made its mark in New Zealand sport. Her grandfather, Jack, represented our country in rugby league, while her brother, John, played 63 tests for the All Blacks, as well as two seasons for the Warriors league club. Sue herself was a keen netball player in her young days.
Sue grew up in Auckland, attended St Joseph Convent in Onehunga and St Marys College in Ponsonby. After school she trained as a dental assistant and worked in the role, until her duties as a mother took over!
Apart from bringing up their two daughters, Sue worked with John in their clothing business. When he needed support with the insurance work, Sue stepped in. While John focuses on meeting clients and putting together effective insurance programmes for them, Sue sees to the systems in the background, making sure everything happens like clockwork and no client is ever left without support, especially at claims time.
“It’s great to see how insurance can help people in difficult times,” says Sue. “It’s bad enough, some of the things that happen to people, without them going broke on top of it.”
Given her background, it’s not surprising that Sue is a huge rugby fan. And when she gets the chance, she heads off with a group of friends to tramp in the glorious New Zealand nature or relax at the family bach at Waihi.
